Acting Manitou, recently seen in the NYTimes, is gearing up for it's ninth summer season!

Acting Manitou is the theater camp right next door at Camp Eastwood. This past summer, the eighth season of Acting Manitou, 160 campers participated in 10 plays and musicals. It was a truly momentous summer for Acting Manitou and even bigger events are planned for 2011:

  • In 2011, Acting Manitou will run two 3-week sessions. Campers who attend either sessions will have a full curriculum of acting class, electives like directing, playwriting and comedy improvisation and production class where campers work on sets, lights, costumes and more. Every camper will participate in one of the fully produced plays or musicals, like Xanadu, Macbeth, and Seussical from last summer.
  • The New York Times did a slide show of summer theater camps and four photos from past Acting Manitou summers made the slide show. Look for Acting Manitou pictures at this link
  • Acting Manitou’s mission is to offer outstanding theater training and performance in a nurturing, ensemble-based environment. They are distinct from other acting camps, because their spirit is based on collaboration not competition.
