Manitou Experience, a one-week camp for boys who have experienced the death of a parent or sibling, wrapped up its second season this August with 55 campers, over 50 volunteer staff, and a healthy dose of Manitou Magic.

We kicked off the week with an energetic College League break, made even louder by the returning campers who helped carry out many of Manitou’s finest traditions. The campers participated in land & water sports, cookie baking with Aunt Amy, campfires, bowling, and other Manitou favorites such as Steve Hirsch Night and Day of Champions. Campers also had “project time” each day, an activity designed to facilitate discussion about the feelings and memories of their special person who died. We have received an overwhelming response from campers and caregivers expressing the life-changing comfort and camaraderie that was felt during their week of camp.
