The Bunk Community

Last night at around 6:30pm Camp Manitou lost power. We had dinner (Pizza) and were in our bunks waiting out a storm when all of a sudden 100’s of fans stopped throughout camp (also the lights went out). My initial thoughts weren’t good about how campers would react. No showers, no electronic devices and even no milk and cookies, I thought it would be chaos.

When I got back to my bunk after checking on my computer in the office, all the campers were sitting around one big flashlight talking and telling stories. This went on for a few hours until everyone finally got tired and went to bed. I thought to myself how amazing it is, that even in the digital age in which we live, campers will always be campers.

Even without the power, it turned out to be another great night for campers and staff to enjoy the fun of true camp life.
