We are proud to introduce our unit leaders for the upcoming summer. Heading up the Low Sophomores (boys finishing 2nd and 3rd grade) is Stephen “Big Bird” Varhall. Big Bird, who came to Manitou as a ropes instructor and has always been a sophomore counselor, is entering his 4th summer at Manitou. Taking charge of the High Sophomores (boys finishing 4th grade) will be Chris Marcoux who returns for his 10th summer. Marcoux has succeeded in many roles at Manitou, most recently as the creative director. You can see many of his great plaques in the dining hall.
After spending a summer on the west coast, Eli Asch returns to Manitou for his 16th season (7 as a staff member). Eli will oversee the Low Intermediates (5th graders) while Dan Wolfson returns to his post from last summer as High Intermediate Unit Leader (6th graders). Victorious Gray Color War Chief Marc Tambini continues as the Low Senior Unit Leader. Marc, who was recruited to Manitou by Andy Arenson, is entering his 5th summer at camp. Leading our oldest campers will be Tony d’Angelo (ninth summer), who returns to his post as High Senior Unit Leader.
